Amidst the pandemic and the restrictions that defined that period, I came to realise how much one thing mattered to me: freedom. The independence to live with minimal constraints on the freedom of my own small democracy.

Being confined within four walls, without the “oxygen” that a garden or a yard provides, felt undemocratic — even nightmarish. Reflecting on the unprecedented challenges of that time, I asked myself what could make me happier, or less unhappy, in the middle of it all.

The answer was simple: a home of my own, as my father would say. A home with room for my family, where outdoor life is safe and accessible. With that in mind — and a modest budget — I founded Extraland to meet my own needs, in the hope they would align with those of the majority of Cyprus’s middle class.

I chose Sotira for its accessibility and its idyllic environment — somewhere families can genuinely thrive. Establishing Extraland was the culmination of that vision. It led to residential communities with spacious homes on affordable land, embracing local materials for sustainability.

Sotira’s incorporation into Kourion Municipality, in the Limassol district, was another criterion — it ensures the essential services that residents rely on. My dream is to live the rest of my years the way I did in my youth. My goal now is to share that message with others seeking mental, familial and qualitative tranquillity.

For those interested in numbers and investments, Sotira currently offers homes at reasonable prices because land values here remain low. That is likely to change; land values tend to appreciate, especially in a region like ours.
